A journey inwards…
…To find the light within
Rajeshree Tupe has been a student of Guruji, Geetaji and Prashantji for over 2 decades and brings a unique blend of three brilliant teachers. She uses the holistic approach to health of body, mind and soul in an accessible way for her students through the intelligent practice of asana and pranayama. A certified senior Iyengar teacher, she also holds a Diploma in Ayurveda & Lifestyle Management.
Her early days at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI) kindled the fire of yog and the gifts of the practice ignited a desire to share the teachings of this system. She began teaching after experiencing the tremendous healing and balancing power of yoga after the birth of her first child.
Teaching is in her blood and she takes on after her maternal grandfather who would ride long distances to teach Yog to children in schools. Her zeal for the subject and the desire to share her knowledge took the long route to slowly but steadily build awareness and interest in Iyengar yoga in Pune. It culminated in the birth of ‘Shriyog Institute’, named after her father and a symbol of the deep gratitude for the blessings of her parents and teachers. It is her offering of yog as her tribute to their yog.
Yoga for women is very important and Rajeshree brings the wisdom and experience of Geetaji’s training as she introduces the healthy and balanced age-old practices, lost between generations. Rajeshree conducts regular yoga workshops for corporates which are customized to suit the different needs of various teams. She has also conducted workshops in the United States and is passionate about spreading the promise of Yog beyond the boundaries of Pune.
“Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured and to endure what cannot be cured.” – B.K.S. Iyengar
Many students come to Yog with problems of health and Rajeshree sees this as an opportunity to help those who suffer and offer them a way to healing. Keeping the needs of this facet of Shriyog’s free therapy sessions, Rajani Yog foundation was established as a platform to help those with medical condition as well as support potential teachers and sincere students of Yog. Named after her spiritual guide, this foundation has been granted the 80 G sanction from the Income Tax department for its service towards society.
Rajeshree has made it her mission to spread the timeless message of Sant Dnyaneshwar’s beautiful commentary on the Bhagwad Gita. She has poured her heart and soul into making the ‘Dnyaneshwari’ accessible to the modern reader so that everyone can benefit from the wisdom of the enlightened ones.
Rajashree has been taking classes in Wanowrie, Hadapsar since 1999. In her earlier years she held classes in the club houses of many societies in Wanowrie and Hadapsar to cultivate interest of Iyengar Yoga.
It was her hard work and determination that has brought the formation of Shriyog Institute that today accommodates students from the age group of 8 to 75. She wants to carry forward the teachings of Guruji Iyengar.
Rajashree along with her team Hitesh Joseph, Archana Tipnis, Zabeen Lyonmoon, Rajan Nair, Smita Pinto, Arti Shetty, Carolina and Mahine assist all the students to study and practice the subject of yog.
